Man of Honor
So she lay at his feet until morning, but got up before anyone could be recognized; and he said, “No one must know that a woman came to the threshing floor.”Ruth 3:14
When God calls us to serve Him, He almost always tests us. The testing reveals who we are and who we need to become.
If you feel like you are being tested, then you probably are. Hebrews 4:15 says that Jesus became our high priest so that He would suffer the same temptations as us. Yes, temptation is a form of suffering. It can also be a form of persecution. And who we are in the dark is who we really are.
Ruth took a risk when she went to Boaz in the middle of the night to plead her case. We know it was a risk because later Boaz told his men not to tell anyone that a woman came to him during the night. After Ruth asked Boaz to redeem her, Boaz told her to sleep at his feet, covered by his robe. That is such a beautiful picture of what Jesus does for us. And like Jesus would, Boaz treated Ruth with respect. He could have taken advantage of the situation. Many men would have but Boaz was not just any man. He didn’t know it at the time, but his life, along with Naomi’s and Ruth’s, would reveal the gospel; the Good News of Jesus Christ.
We are in the same position. Our lives mean more than we realize. When we embody holiness, love, and forgiveness, our everyday lives show the Gospel story to the lost and dying world around us.
Prayer
I praise you Heavenly Father for the beautiful way You showed us Your plan, even before the birth of Your Son. Help me to be a person of honor, so that when people see me, they will see You.
In Jesus Name
Amen
